Parent Academy 101

The Linscott Educational Model: What is unique about Linscott Charter School? PA 101 answers this question and others such as what it means to be part of a parent participation school and how students benefit from this model. You will also become familiar with our vision and mission as well as the role you play in creating the learning environment of your child (ren).

Parent Academy 102

Participation Workshop Sessions: This session is a hands-on experience for Linscott parents. Workshops, primarily lead by experienced Linscott parents, demonstrate examples of “best practices” in parent involvement. Workshop leaders model how to successfully lead groups of students in the classroom, how to use your own talents to enrich the students/classroom, etc.

Child Development for Parents

In October, Julie Miller, an educator in the field of Child Development, will present information at parent meetings regarding the specific developmental stages of those students. Increased awareness of your child’s developmental stage and interpersonal needs supports you in positive parenting.

Make-up Sessions

If for any reason you are unable to attend either of these classes, there will be an opportunity for make-up on the following dates: Parent Academy 101: September 17, 2009 6:00-7:30 p.m.; Parent Academy 102: October 1, 2009 6:00-7:30 p.m. Location to be announced at a later time.
