Enrollment

Current Enrollment Status

See below for our Kindergarten enrollment procedure. Linscott's openings in other grades are filled as applications are received. Presently we are pleased to announce that all grades are full for the 2008-2009 schoolyear. Please contact our enrollment coordinator for more information or to get on the wait list.

Enrolling Your Child for the Next School Year

Kindergarten and New Fall Students

Each spring Linscott offers an Open House to families interested in attending the next schoolyear. For prospective kindergarteners, there is also a special Kinder Round-Up and Kinder Parent Conference. Return in spring, 2009 for our next Open House date. Please feel free to contact our enrollment coordinator if you miss these events but would still like to apply. See Important Information below for more details about Kindergarten enrollment.

Elementary and Middle School Ongoing Enrollment

Enrollment occurs on an ongoing basis throughout the year. If you have a child already in another school, or if you are moving into the area, you may contact our Enrollment Coordinator at any time during the schoolyear or summer. Like all schools, Linscott tends to have a number of openings throughout the schoolyear, and we keep an active wait list for all grades.

Important Admissions Information

Admission Goal

Linscott is a California State Charter School. All children who are eligible for grades K-8 are welcome. Every effort will be made to admit families who reflect the diversity of the community, while sharing the educational philosophy of the school, as well as the commitment to full parent participation in the educational process and governance of the school. Preference will be given to students residing within the attendance area of PVUSD. In the event that more students desire enrollment than there are spaces, selection will be made by lottery, following the criteria and priorities established in the Admissions Policy.

Philosophy

Prospective parents will verbally articulate an understanding of, and commitment to the educational philosophy of Linscott Charter School to the teacher and/or the Enrollment Coordinator. This articulation will take place in conjunction with a discussion and review of Linscott written materials concerning educational philosophy, parent participation commitments, participation in LCS K Round-up (if applicable), and classroom observation.

Parent Involvement

Prospective parents will demonstrate to the teacher and/or Enrollment Coordinator a clear understanding of and commitment to parent participation as outlined in Linscott Parent Participation Policies. Prospective families may make available records and/or anecdotal input or letters from preschool, elementary, home-school or other teachers with whom the family may have worked, friends, family.
