2007 River of Words Environmental Poetry and Art Contest
Linscott Winners!
What a banner year it was for the River of Words contest led by teachers Linda Cover and Rita Uribe!
- Congratulations finalists: Ian, Lucio, and Zeth!
- A huge congratulations to Linda Cover, Teacher of the Year!
- And if that weren't enough, an enormous congratulations to Jakob Langholz, who won the Art Grand Prize for his work.
Linda, Jakob, and the finalists got to go to a wonderful ceremony in San Francisco where they met lots of other winners from the West Coast. Then Linda and Jakob went to Washington D.C. to be feted along with winners and finalists from across the country.
To see a list of all the winners, go to the River of Words website. Below are Lucio's poem and some photos of the events. See past winners on our Special Programs page.
A hungry spider
in a tree
on a web
on a sunny day
protecting her eggs
She's thinking about the eggs
wondering
if they're going to be good spiders
