Procedures for Parents

Microwave Use: Due to Safety Issues, students are not allowed to use microwaves both in the class and in the office. Please pack 'cold' lunches, or you may heat up food items on behalf of your child
Student Telephone Use: Students must clear all outgoing telephone calls through the teacher and use telephones in the classroom. If a student is ill, they may come to the office and office personnel will contact their parent. All other 'personal calls' are to be made with approval from teachers.
Messages to Students: Due to the need to have constant office coverage, we ask that you plan ahead for your student and limit the need to get messages delivered to students. This is not only disruptive to the classroom, but is time consuming for office staff to accommodate these needs. ALL emergency messages will be handled immediately.
Skate Tennis Shoes: Due to safety issues, tennis shoes with 'built in wheels' are not to be worn during school hours. This is becoming dangerous to others and are being misused in the hallway. See our Dress Code for more information.
Use of Cell Phones: Out of consideration for our students and teachers, please make sure all cell phones are turned off or are on 'quiet mode' during your class workday. Let's be sure to make ourselves completely available to the teachers in and out of the classroom.
Gate Pick-Up Procedures: Please observe gate pick-up procedures as outlined in your parent handbook. Students must know where their designated pick-up gate is located. Please send a note with your student if their pick-up destination has changed. This will help our gate monitors.
Late Pick-Ups All students whose parents are late picking them up will be brought to the main office and signed in. Parents must come in the office and sign their students out. Late pick ups will be handled in the same manner as tardies and excessive absences.
Attendance: Absences for medical reasons are excused. All excused absences must be reported through the main office. Tardies, late pick ups, unexcused and excessive absence letters are sent to parents every 4 weeks. Independent Study is encouraged for all absences.
Change of Information: Parents must notify the office by filling out a 'Change of Information Form' regarding any changes in address, phone numbers or other emergency information.
After School: The West Playground will be cleared at 3:15. Students will be brought to the office if the parent is not on site. If parent is on site, the student must seek permission from that parent to play on the East Playground. Please be aware that the East Playground does not have a designated supervisor for the playground after school, and wise judgment should be made from parents whether or not their child requires parental supervision.
Parent Boxes: Check your parent box regularly and keep it clear for incoming paperwork. If there is a misspelling or error, please see Sam to correct this in the office.
Library: Linscott's library is staffed by parent volunteers. Books may be checked out by students only during classroom library time. Books may be returned directly to the library into the return bin or to the classroom in each room's designated return location. Students will be charged for books not returned by the end of the school year. The computers are also located in the library. The library welcomes cash donations, but please do not leave discarded books or computer equipment in the library.
