Interview with My Teacher
By Louis and Sally
Hi! Our names are Louis and Sally and we are students in Mrs. D’s 7th grade humanities class. When we interviewed our teacher she had the following answers:
1. Why did you decide to become a teacher?
“A lot of reasons: Living in France; working with American students who needed to learn about culture; wanting to help; being curious about learning new things. I spent 20 years working in the high tech industry and wanted to do something more meaningful.”
2. What do you like best about your job?
“The students—the eagerness they have about learning.”
3. How do you enjoy spending time when you are not at school?
“I enjoy spending time with my family—hiking, riding bikes, taking day trips…”
4. Who is your hero/heroine?
“My dad. He just taught me values and the importance of character—to always believe in yourself, and to take risks.
5. If you could go anywhere in the world on a trip, where would you go? Why?
“…China (the Great Wall), Africa, Machupichu, Sri Lanka…”
6. Why did you choose to teach junior high instead of any other grade?
“I like the age group because of the in-depth discussions and because of their critical thinking skills.”
